Your responsibilities

The Sweeney Group aims to define the molecular, cellular and neural circuit components that underlie differences in motor behavior, and to explore how such differences arise during an organism's development. The group uses swimming and limbed organisms including frogs, fish, and mice to address these fundamental questions. The frog is of special interest to the group as it undergoes metamorphosis, transitioning from a swimming tadpole to a walking frog during development. Their primary goal is to categorize, compare and manipulate neurons across metamorphic stages and swim/limb species. This allows to map variations in cellular properties and neural circuit structure onto differences in motor behavior. We are looking for a proactive team member to support us with the following tasks:

  • Organization of laboratory operations: animal care (primarily frog) including tank changes and feeding, health monitoring, shipping/receiving animals and managing an animal database
  • Being part of an interactive group of students, postdocs, and technicians with diverse backgrounds

Your profile

  • Completed education in the field of biology (e.g. MTA, BSC or above)
  • Proven work experience in similar position; experience with animal care is necessary (experience with aquatic species is a huge plus)
  • A background in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics or neuroscience is advantageous but not necessary
  • Have a good knowledge and proficiency of English (Institute language: English)
  • Strong organizational skills, reliability and a sense of responsibility
  • Enjoy working in an international team
